Independent local news. Every week.

Sunday, May 25, 1:50 p.m. When we saw them hanging out by the library, we figured the goats would show up in this week’s blotter. Sure enough, a caller reported a rogue goat hoofing it across a vacant lot, stirring up fears of butting up against the law. Deputies arrived prepared to negotiate with a stubborn fugitive — only to discover the goat was a perfectly law-abiding pet out for a stroll on a leash. The owner had two goats in tow, proving once again that not all who wander are lost — some are just taking their goats for a walk. No charges were filed; horns remained unblown. Laurel St.

Get A New Hobby

Friday, May 30, 3:30 p.m. A gang of giddy juveniles gave citizens quite the scare, tossing trash and staging faux robberies in masks — just your average TerrorTok content creation. Bystanders didn’t find it very reel, and deputies stepped in before the kids could go viral for the wrong reasons. Parents were notified, masks removed, and prank careers paused — at least until the next algorithm shift. We hope this was the last act because this joke is getting old. First Street.

Caution: Objects May be Larger Than They Appear

Sunday, June 1, 12:13 p.m. No, not a coffee stand. A vehicle made an unscheduled drive-in visit to the Skagit County Historical Museum, giving the phrase “living history” a whole new meaning. The driver claims a mechanical issue caused the car to lurch forward and kiss the building. No injuries were reported — except maybe to the museum’s curb appeal. Officials are investigating whether the car was channeling the spirit of a Model T. Historical Museum, S. 4th St.
