10:30 a.m., Friday, April 17 A victim reported his tax refund was reduced due to an alleged overdue government COVID-related loan. The victim said he had never taken out such a loan and believed he was the target of fraud. A case number was provided, with the matter headed to the federal level. La Conner

2:40 p.m., Friday, April 17 A driver traveling north on Third Street saw a large tractor coming south with a field implement wider than the lane. The motorist pulled all the way to the curb but was still struck by the oversized attachment. The driver and tractor operator exchanged insurance information over the growing situation. Third Street

6:20 p.m., Friday, April 17 That’s not what fenders are for… A witness reported an apparently intoxicated man operating a boat in the marina and colliding with another vessel. The suspect craft was last seen heading south in the channel with three people aboard. Deputies were unable to locate the boat and passed the information to the Coast Guard. La Conner Marina
