12:25 p.m. Monday, July 21: Another seasonal “hot dogs in a car” call — this one with a happy ending. Windows were down, owner was on-site, and the pups were perfectly fine. Just another summer dog day. La Conner Library.

Lost in thought, found a ride

11:06 p.m. Monday, July 21: A woman wandering downtown claiming her kids were in danger prompted a welfare check. Deputies, familiar with her struggles, transported her to First Steps for help. Second Street.

Unlocked, unlucky, and unhelpful

12:15 p.m. Thursday, July 24: Two car prowls — one on Second, one on Park — relieved victims of medical documents. No valuables taken, but red tape is priceless when you need it. S. Second Street and Park Street.

Hide and seek

2:50 p.m. Thursday, July 24: Multiple calls came in about a man acting oddly and possibly sleeping behind businesses. Deputies patrolled but found no loiterers. Sounds like a case of a mystery man playing an excellent game of hide-and-seek. Downtown La Conner.

Reloaded, not reformed

July 26, 11 p.m. Saturday: Juveniles shot gel‑BB airsoft rounds at a park worker while he cleaned up after an event. The victim got their plate, deputies got their address, and parents got a late‑night wake‑up call. Same kids as last week’s “shoot‑at‑a‑friend’s‑car” stunt. Charges are on the table. Pioneer Park.
