Van be gone
12:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 4 — Someone reported a van substituting as a home with the occupant parking around town. A deputy located the van and tried to make contact but found only a canine occupant. The van was legally parked and, with no human in sight, the situation was left on paws for now. Deputies will keep an eye on the area in the coming days. S. 4th Street and Caledonia Street
Don’t tread on me
2:35 a.m., Thursday, March 5 — A deputy on foot patrol spotted a vehicle stopped in the intersection and a passenger tossing their cookies, and whatever other refreshments they had that night, onto the sidewalk. The deputy stopped for a welfare check, discovered two very inebriated occupants of the vehicle, which led to sobriety tests for the driver, who clocked in at nearly double the legal limit. 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 5 — A driver entering Pioneer Park encountered a larger vehicle coming down the narrow road. Attempting to back down to make room, the driver slipped onto the shoulder and rolled the car down the bank. The vehicle took the worst of it, but fortunately no one was injured. Pioneer Park

2:40 p.m., Sunday, March 8 — Deputies responded to a death report involving an adult female. Evidence at the scene suggested possible drug activity, and the case is being investigated as an overdose death involving fentanyl. Finley Lane
Just another manic Monday
9 a.m., Monday, March 9 — Multiple 911 calls reported a vehicle speeding the wrong way on State Route 20 before turning south toward La Conner. Deputies located the car as it entered town, still driving erratically, now minus a functioning rear tire and rolling on the rim. The driver was stopped near 6th Street and taken into custody for DUI. Morris Street at 6th Street
