Higher Than Expected

12:05 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 Aid responded to a possible marijuana overdose. The patient, who uses cannabis to manage chronic pain, had a stronger reaction than expected. Aid and law arrived to find them alert, stable, and feeling more sheepish than sick. No transport was needed, and the only lasting side effect appeared to be a note to self: start small next time. Wallet Back in the Fold

11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 A shopper at The Stall found a wallet left behind and quickly turned it in. The owner returned shortly afterward to claim it — contents, cards, and cash all intact. It was a rare retail ending where nothing was lost but time, and everyone left a little richer in good will. First Street.

No Basket To Show For It

6:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8  A call came in about a driver who was a master weaver across lanes on La Conner Whitney Road. A concerned driver tailed the drifting car for a short stretch before deciding to break off. When deputies arrived, the suspect vehicle had already exited the stage. No further sightings were reported, leaving this one a road mystery. La Conner Whitney Road.

Tipsy Trio Falls Into Drink

3:25 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10 Two kayakers and their dog tipped over in the Swinomish Channel, taking an unexpected swim. All three wore life jackets and made it to the dock under their own power. Aid gave them a ride back to their vehicles, slightly damp but otherwise fine. The dog appeared to consider the event nothing more than bonus playtime. Swinomish Channel.
