A rock slide that occurred on April 22 has forced an extended closure of State Route 11, also known as Chuckanut Drive, between the Oyster Dome trailhead and Chuckanut Manor, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The closure affects all users, including drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Trailheads, local businesses, and Larrabee State Park remain open and accessible by alternate routes.
WSDOT crews are monitoring the area and developing a plan to safely reopen the road. Before that can happen, crews must first scale the slope to remove loose rocks, clear debris from the road, assess damage, and replace several feet of guardrail.
WSDOT has not released a reopening timeline. Updates are available via the WSDOT app, Travel Center Map, email alerts, and the department’s social media channels.
Officials urge the public to respect closure signs for their own safety and the safety of work crews.
