Born Learning Trail signs come to Swədəbš Park

New signs invite visitors to explore playful, language-rich early learning along the waterfront.

After five years of planning and partnership, Swinomish families now have a new way to explore early learning along the waterfront.

Last week, contractors from HF Sinclair completed installation of the United Way Born Learning Trail at Swədəbš Park waterfront park. The 10 colorful signs encourage playful, brain-building activities for children and caregivers — part of a nationwide effort to bring learning into everyday moments.

The signs are in English now with Lushootseed translations and QR codes linking to videos coming soon.Swinomish Tribal Chairman Steve Edwards praised the collaborative effort, which includes support from the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, United Way, and HF Sinclair. The trail is the first in the region to include Lushootseed, the Coast Salish language of the Swinomish people.
