A month ago, we launched The Weekly Brief with a simple mission: to bring La Conner the local news it deserves. In just a few weeks, the response has been overwhelming. We’ve raised more than $20,000 in pledges for a total of $60,000, gained more than 425 subscribers (and counting), and published 10 stories featuring town favorites like Bill Reynolds and Nancy Crowell.

It’s clear — this town doesn’t just want local news. It wants this local news. And we love bringing it to you.

But now, we need to make sure La Conner Community News isn’t just a passion project — it’s a lasting institution. That means shifting gears from sprinting to building. We need a strong operational foundation: a fiscal sponsor so donations are tax-deductible, governance policies that ensure transparency, and financial systems that allow us to grow. We’re also setting up advertising and membership models to make this a sustainable, community-supported publication for years to come.

To make this happen, we’ve set a 2025 fundraising goal of $200,000—enough to fund operations, pay local journalists, and keep La Conner Community News thriving. We’ve made an incredible start, but we need your help to keep going. Your pledge or donation — whether it’s $20 or $200 — will help us build a newsroom that will serve this town for years to come.

We’re doing this together. Let’s make La Conner Community News a permanent part of this town’s story.

Pledge your support or make a donation today to help us reach our goal.
