Today, we take an exciting first step in bringing La Conner and the surrounding communities a new platform for news, storytelling, and local connection. We are proud to introduce the La Conner Community News website—a place that will grow alongside our town and its people.
Right now, this is a bare version of what’s to come. We are starting with the essentials: a front page, opinion section, news section, and information about who we are and how you can support us. In the near future, we’ll be adding dedicated sections for business and arts & culture. We look forward to broadening our coverage and providing an even richer experience for our readers. Stay tuned!
Unlike the print edition, which will follow a set publishing schedule, this website allows us to publish stories as they are completed. That means timely reporting, ongoing updates, and a dynamic archive of local events and issues.
We are also introducing features that will make the website an even more valuable resource. We’ll publish and catalog a Bird of the Week photo —a nod to the natural beauty that surrounds us. We will also host obituaries of any length on the website, while print obits will be limited to 300 words. In the future, we plan to introduce audio and video storytelling to complement our written reporting, bringing our community’s voices and stories to life in new ways.
Most importantly, La Conner Community News will never be paywalled—ever. Our mission is to keep local news accessible to everyone, ensuring that our community stays informed without barriers.
This is just the beginning. La Conner Community News is here to serve you, and we welcome your thoughts, story ideas, and feedback as we continue to build this together.
Thank you for being part of this new chapter in local journalism.
