Those who enjoy history and afternoons in La Conner should circle Oct. 22 on their calendars.
That’s when Shelter Bay author Doug Vandegraft will share favorite stories from his book, “A Guide to the Notorious Bars of Alaska,” during a one-hour (2-3 p.m.) appearance at La Conner Swinomish Library.
Vandegraft recently released the third edition of the book, which combines history with accounts of historical Alaskan establishments for imbibing.
Vandegraft’s presentation is being coordinated by La Conner Senior Center writing instructor and local travel consultant Teri Goldstein.
Goldstein said copies of the book will be available for purchase at the free library event.
