With the Aug. 4 primary election less than a month away, the community is invited to learn more about their ballot options at a series of events next week, hosted by the League of Women Voters.
Independent Connie Krier and Republican Keith Wagoner, who are running for the District 3 seat in the Board of County Commissioners, will face incumbent Joe Burns at a forum from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. on July 16 at the Sedro-Woolley City Council Chambers. The event will be recorded and posted online at a later time on skagitlwv.org.
District 3 encompasses the area “east of Old 99 North to, and including, Prairie Road, the area north of the Skagit River to Loretta Creek and from that point east includes from the Whatcom County line to the Snohomish County line,” according to the county’s website.
Rick Larsen, a Democrat representing the 2nd Congressional District, is defending his seat from Democrat Devin Hermanson, Democrat Tomas Scheel and Republican Edwin Feller. Their interviews will be available by mid-July at skagitlwv.org, according to a press release from the Skagit League of Women Voters.
The 2nd Congressional District includes all of Skagit, Island, San Juan and Whatcom counties, as well as western Snohomish County.
The race to represent Position 1 in Washington’s 10th Legislative District will include incumbent Clyde Shavers, a Democrat, and Robert Hicks, a Republican.
Dave Paul, a Democrat representing Position 2, is being challenged by Republicans Tim Hazelo and Carrie R. Kennedy.
The 10th Legislative District includes the southwestern part of Skagit counties, including La Conner and Swinomish, as well as all of Island County and northwest Snohomish County.
The forum will be held on Zoom at 6 p.m. on July 16. The meeting link will become available the day before at whidbeyislandwa.lwv.org, with a recording posted on skagitlwv.org.
The recording for the Washington Legislative District 39 candidate forum will be available July 17 at skagitlwv.org, while the recorded interviews of the Washington Legislative District 40 will be available on the same website by mid-July.
