The Kiwanis Club of La Conner announces the May Students of the Month for the La Conner School District.

The High School Student of the Month for May is Mason Magill. Mason’s parents are Ethan and Arin Magill. Mason is a senior at La Conner High School. His favorite class is leadership class, where he has been able to be involved in several projects and events. He has been involved in band for several years. Mason is part of Knowledge Bowl as well. Outside of school he attends concerts and sporting events. He enjoys working on his truck and getting out on the water with his boat. Mason has been attending the Marine Time program at Northwest Career & Technical Academy in Anacortes and is currently doing an internship with Mavrik Marine. Eventually he would like to have a job involving boats — running a ferry or tugboat maybe.

The Middle School Student of the Month for May is Kaylonie Cayou. Kaylonie is in eighth grade at La Conner Middle School. Her favorite class is math. She participates in volleyball and hopes to continue to play volleyball when she gets into high school. Kaylonie is learning American Sign Language in the ASL Club at school. Outside of school she enjoys dancing and participating in canoe racing. She has not decided on what she plans to do after graduation.

The Elementary Student of the Month for May is Scarlett Johnson. Her parents are Jessie Benoit and Steven Johnson. She is in fifth grade at La Conner Elementary School. She loves reading and art classes in school. Scarlett participates in the school plays as she loves theater. Outside of school she has been involved in tae kwon do for three years and has a black belt. Scarlett would like to attend college but is not sure what she will study. She is interested in archaeology.
