
Trudy Ann Raymer Kennedy, 68, of La Conner, passed away Oct. 21, 2025, from degenerative lung disease.
She was born Feb. 10, 1957, to Ann Esser and Harley Raymer of Mount Vernon. She grew up attending Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.
After graduating in 1975 from Mount Vernon High School, Trudy attended the University of Washington and graduated from Western Washington University.
She taught transitional kindergarten in the Sedro-Woolley School District before embarking on a career in social work.
Trudy retired from the Washington State Employment Security Department, primarily with WorkSourceWA. Beloved by her colleagues, Trudy found great reward in helping her clients find jobs.
She and Greg Kennedy were married June 9, 1984, and made their home on Downey Road. Their son Zane was born in 1988 and their daughter Kelsey in 1990.
Trudy was a devoted mother, involved in all of her children’s activities. Zane, who played football, basketball and baseball, graduated from La Conner High School in 2006. Kelsey, who played volleyball and basketball, graduated from LCHS in 2009.
Trudy also was a devoted fan of college and professional sports. Her first date with Greg was to a Husky football game, a pastime that continued to the end of their lives. They were frequently seen wearing their purple and gold Husky gear.
Trudy liked to garden, cook, bake, and tend to her chickens and pets.
She was extremely proud of her children, and greatly loved her grandsons. Trudy was well-known to be generous, kind, caring, and forgiving.
Survivors include her son Zane Kennedy (Danelle), and grandsons Kasen, Owen and Morgan Kennedy, all of Stanwood; her daughter Kelsey Kennedy (Jordan Ruacho) of Mount Vernon; cousin Kelly Peth McKnight of La Conner; close friend Kris Landerorth of Bothell; and other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Gregory Orville Kennedy, 80, of La Conner, passed away at home Nov. 26, 2025.
He was born July 11, 1945, to Anne Stringer and Orville Kennedy of Seattle.
Greg graduated from Rainier Beach High School. A military veteran, he graduated from the University of Washington and earned his master’s degree in social work from Seattle University.
He was employed with WorkSourceWA, and retired from Washington’s Lottery.
He and Trudy met in the early 1980s and were married June 9, 1984. They raised their children Zane and Kelsey on Downey Road. Greg attended all of his kids’ La Conner High School sports games as an enthusiastic and proud fan. He described his family as a “tight foursome.”
An avid reader of fiction and history, Greg also loved the music of his generation, including Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix. Along with sports, he followed politics and cared deeply for his pets.
Greg was passionate about human rights, democracy and community, and often donated to a variety of causes.
His survivors include his son Zane, his daughter Kelsey, his grandsons Kasen, Owen and Morgan, as well as a number of close friends including Fred, Randy and Gunda.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
