The Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club is reeling in support for local youth with its 70th annual Salmon BBQ at Hillcrest Park Lodge, which kicked off Friday, April 5.

This longtime fundraiser runs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through May 4.

For $26, guests can net a hearty plate of grilled wild salmon, baked potato, coleslaw, garlic bread, a beverage, and an ice cream bar. Craving something extra? Wade in with a bowl of Ivar’s clam chowder for $5.

Board member Richard Brocksmith said in past years, the event has raised $100,000. The BBQ is the club’s primary fundraiser. Proceeds support scholarships, the Boys & Girls Club, Mount Vernon Parks, and other youth-focused programs.

Hillcrest Park Lodge is located at 1717 S. 13th St., Mount Vernon. Cast your eyes on more details at facebook.com/KiwanisSalmonBBQ.
