The Red Dress is a 13-year global embroidery project by British artist Kirstie MacLeod. From 2009 to 2022, 343 women and seven men from 46 countries—including refugees from Palestine and Syria, and survivors of war in Kosovo and Rwanda—embroidered the burgundy silk dupion dress. The intricate work, stitched into 84 fabric pieces, tells stories of resilience and identity.
