La Conner School District voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition No. 1, with more than 78% in favor and just 10 ballots left to count as of 12:57 p.m. on Feb. 12. Voter turnout reached a little over 39%.

Superintendent David Cram appreciates the community’s support, but wasn’t surprised by the outcome.

“This community has historically been supportive of the schools,” Cram said.

The new levy replaces the current one, which expires at the end of its term. In 2021, voters approved that measure with 72.2% support. The new levy maintains the same tax rate of $1.11 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

Set to run from 2026 to 2029, the four-year $4.745 million levy will help bridge state and federal funding gaps. Cram said it will help to cover special education programs, materials and supplies, transportation, and food services.

Election officials will certify the results on Feb. 21.
