La Conner High School seniors have completed their history courses here, though more history awaits them in the very near future.
The school’s class of 2026 will be honored this Saturday at the 112th La Conner Alumni Association Banquet.
The June 6 event, which gets underway at the middle school gym with a 5 p.m. meet-and-greet, features a dinner catered by La Conner Seafood & Prime Rib House and a business meeting emceed by Polly Hancock Marsh of the class of 1976.
In addition to the graduating seniors, who will be welcomed into the oldest active alumni association in Washington state, the evening will be an opportunity to celebrate the shared legacy that connects generations of La Conner graduates.
In addition, special recognition will be bestowed upon Connie Anderson LeSourd of the class of 1978, who is the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Alumnus Award. She is being saluted for her remarkable empathy and compassion as owner of Kern Funeral Home as well as her long personal tradition of community volunteerism.
Members of graduating classes ending in “6” will be recognized during the course of the evening.
The banquet serves as a major scholarship fundraiser for graduating seniors and past graduates now pursuing post-secondary degrees and certifications, reflecting a meaningful investment in the future of La Conner students.
While encouraged to donate as they are able, La Conner alums often contribute $1 for each year since their graduation.
The La Conner alumni gathering is unique in that it allows members of all classes, rather than just those from a particular reunion year, to reconnect annually. For La Conner alums, it is a celebration that honors their past, supports the future and strengthens the spirit of the local community.
Those who were unable to RSVP banquet attendance by May 23 may still have an impact by returning their mailed invitations with yearly alumni dues and a scholarship donation.
