Tulip topping began Tuesday morning at the Roozengaarde field on Best Road across from Christianson’s Nursery. A process that used to be done by hand is now done by machines that are driven across the rows and cut off the flowers as they go. Topping forces the growth energy downward into making new bulbs and is part of the farming process. While fields are being cut, there are still flowers to be viewed and display gardens will be open through the end of the month.
