Tuesday, the La Conner Town Council unanimously approved a new event where attendees can enjoy the warmer weather while supporting small businesses.

The La Conner Vendors Market is an initiative led by Katie Beardsley, the owner of La Conner Paddles — a kayak rental business that opened last fall in downtown.

So far, Beardsley said there are 30 vendors who have expressed interest in participating across ten different dates in the spring and summer, though more participants may be added as she and the Town work out the details for the food vendors. All events will take place from 9 to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at 613 North Second Street, at the La Conner Marina.

The market is scheduled for the following dates: April 25, May 2 and 23, June 6 and 13, July 18 and 25, Aug. 8 and 15, and Sept. 5. Entry is free.

The kick-off date will include live music. Beardsley also said she plans to include free activities for all ages.
