Parades and parties ahead
The final week of October brings a full lineup of frightfully fun festivities for all ages in and around La Conner.
The week kicks off with the return of the annual Haunted Forest this Saturday, at Washington Park in Anacortes. Brave souls can venture through the forest trails on a nighttime walk starting at 6 p.m. Be sure to bring a headlamp or flashlight — and maybe a friend to hold onto. Because of its spooky nature, the Haunted Forest is recommended for adults and older children.
Also Saturday evening, La Conner Thrives invites locals to its “Ghouls & Fools” Halloween bash and costume contest from 6 to 8 p.m. at O’Neil’s Confectionery and Soda Fountain on First Street. The event, open to ages 21 and older, will feature pizza, snacks, beer and wine, and a mix of fun activities. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at laconnerthrives.org.
Come next Friday, Halloween, is the annual La Conner Halloween Parade. The parade begins after school at 3 p.m. on First Street, where families and friends can join in the fun. Paradegoers are encouraged to stop by the La Conner Retirement Inn for its Halloween party, featuring goodies and prizes. To RSVP, email ddrake@laconnerretirementinn.com or call (360) 466-5700.
Later that evening, the celebration continues at the Swinomish Boys & Girls Club, where a community Halloween party runs from 5 to 8 p.m. The all-ages event will have bouncy houses, games, pizza, candy and prizes. The Boys & Girls Club is located at 17275 Reservation Road, La Conner.
For those looking for relaxation, Crescent Moon Yoga is hosting a Halloween sound bath at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at 606 Morris St., La Conner. General admission is $28, with details available at yogalaconner.com.
