Two men were found dead Tuesday morning in the La Conner area, prompting an investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies.

One of the men was discovered unconscious in a parked vehicle near the Sherman Street boat launch on the south end of town. Efforts by emergency responders to revive him with CPR were unsuccessful, said Skagit County Sheriff Sgt. Brad Holmes.

“There’s not much we can say right now because it’s an ongoing investigation,” Holmes said.

While at the scene, Holmes and other responders learned that a second man had been found in an unresponsive state on First Street in Swinomish Village. He was also deceased.

Tribal police and the sheriff’s office are working with the Skagit County Coroner’s Office to determine the manner and cause of death for the two victims.

Swinomish Police Chief Earl Cowan said the department is investigating a third death, of a Swinomish tribal member, that occurred on Sept. 25.

The Swinomish Police Department is partnering with the Skagit County Drug Task Force, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Office of Drug Enforcement to investigate the deaths at Swinomish.
