Appointed incumbent Mankamyer leads the three-candidate primary race for the Port of Skagit District 2 with 52.97% of the votes. Mankamyer will advance to the general election this fall.

With only an estimated 150 ballots left to be counted, a tight margin remains between Keith Chaplin (with 1,146 votes) and Edwin (with 1,067 votes). Stickle trails Chaplin by just 79 votes.

Mary LaFleur and Terry Carroll-Gilli hold the top two positions for the Port of Anacortes Commission Position 1. Michael J McClintock is in third with 19.98% of the votes.

Demi Daman will advance to Mount Vernon’s at-large city council race. Daman secured 60.47% of the vote. The race for the second spot is close, Stefanie LeJeunesse has 20.97% (1,046) of the votes and Consuelo Pineda has 18.1% with 903 votes.

Results may shift once remaining ballots are processed. The next count is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11.

The two candidates with the most votes when the election is certified on Aug. 19 will advance to the Nov. 4 general election. 

Skagit County election officials reported 16,656 ballots counted as of Thursday night, reflecting a 23.21% voter turnout.
