Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum to host Free Family Day, seeks volunteers and snacks

Whether it’s a family’s first visit or their fiftieth, Free Family Day promises a rich tapestry of inspiration and creativity.

The Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum is threading together creativity and community for its first Free Family Day on July 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Designed to make quilting and fiber arts more accessible to the community, the event offers free admission to all three floors of the museum’s galleries. Families can enjoy spinning wheel and drop spindle demonstrations, outdoor games, a seek and find art treasure hunt, art activities, and story times.

“We aim to engage the curiosity and creativity of visitors of all ages,” said Morgan Kavanagh, the museum’s curator of education. “We hope to broaden our audience, make new community connections, and inspire folks to try something new.”

The museum is still seeking volunteers to help bring the day to life. Kavanagh is looking for one or two gallery assistants to greet visitors, chat with guests, and gently remind them to avoid touching the artwork. One more volunteer is needed to help facilitate a simple paper collage quilt activity.

While the museum hasn’t formally solicited donations, Kavanagh said peanut-free snacks from local businesses or individuals would be welcomed additions.

Those interested in volunteering or donating snacks can reach out to Kavanagh directly for more details at morgan@qfamuseum.org or call (360) 466-4288 ext. 102.
