Senior Corran Eisen, a three-sport standout at La Conner High, closed out his senior year by placing in the top half of the Washington State 2B Boys’ Golf Championship Tournament at Liberty Lake near Spokane last week.

Eisen carded an 87-82 169 during the two-day State tourney at the MeadowWood Golf Course, finishing in a tie with Tri-City Prep’s James Koskinen for 16th place out of 40 golfers qualifying for the event.

Eisen, who also played soccer and basketball for the Braves, climbed four spots on the leaderboard with his second-round score.

La Conner Assistant Coach Galen McKnight said Eisen drew the attention of one of the college coaches who scouted the State trials.

“He came up and told Corran that he’d like to watch him play a couple of the holes,” McKnight related.

Junior Addi Keller also represented La Conner at Liberty Lake. She recorded a 116 on the tourney’s opening day, missing the cut and a second-round tee time by six strokes. Still, her score was better than some that were posted over the final 18 holes.

Keller, a junior who plays libero on the La Conner High volleyball team, finished 42nd out of 60 entrants in the State 2B girls’ bracket.

Orcas Island, one of La Conner’s NW2B/1B League rivals, won the State boys’ team title behind freshman Joe Anderson. Anderson, a freshman, fired a two-day score of 148 (73-75) to finish second in the individual championship chase. Josh Spinner of Orcas placed ninth with a 158 (80-78) two-round tally.

Brienna Cothren of Wakiakum won the girls’ individual crown with an 85-71 156 score. Naomi Molitor of Almira Coulee Hartline finished second, 10 strokes back at 166.

The Mount Vernon Christian girls, another NW2B/1B entrant in the May 20 & 21 tournament, took fifth place in the team competition.
