The Cinco de Mayo celebration at Landy James Gym on May 5 featured performances by the Mount Vernon Elementary Mexican Dancers, a student photo booth with a backdrop focused on Mexican history, and a Braves Hub display of Mexican souvenirs. La Conner Schools Migrant Student Advocate Olimpia Zuniga and Braves Hub Site Coordinator Chloe Madison were instrumental in making the event a success, district officials said. Before the event, La Conner teacher provided lessons on Mexican history, culture, and social contributions.
