On a gusty Tuesday afternoon in La Conner, the Coupeville Wolves’ softball and baseball teams blew into town and recorded twin NW2B/1B diamond triumphs.
The Coupeville softball team blanked the host Braves 20-0 in five innings. Meanwhile, the Wolves’ baseball squad posted a 14-3 comeback win over La Conner in seven frames.

Kat Edwards ripped La Conner’s lone base hit in the softball matchup, a solid two-strike single to centerfield with one down in the second inning and the hosts trailing 7-0.
But La Conner, coming off a nail-biting 14-13 win at Concrete on April 3, couldn’t muster any more offense against the Wolves.
Coupeville followed a six-run first inning with a single tally in the second. The visitors blew the game open with a 10-run explosion in the fourth, then tacked on three insurance scores in the fifth.
With the win, Coupeville improved to 8-1 on the season. La Conner dropped to 1-6.
While the baseball result was similar, the story line of that game unfolded much differently. La Conner, behind superb starting pitching from Kaleb Otis, led 2-1 after four innings. The Braves trailed just 3-2 going into the sixth stanza.
Otis escaped a jam in the fourth when he turned a double play by delivering a strike at second base to shortstop C.J. Edwards, who then fired the ball to first baseman Nathan Bailey to complete the twin killing.
Having moved to shortstop in the fifth after reaching his pitch count limit, Otis stopped a Wolves rally at two runs by throwing out a Coupeville runner at the plate for the third out of the inning.
The game got away from La Conner in the sixth, however. The Wolves parlayed seven walks, three hit batsmen, and a base hit into eight runs for a cozy 11-2 lead. The victors added three more scores in the seventh.
The Braves closed with a run in the seventh when Otis led off with a double and later plated on a wild pitch.
Kamien Lopez joined Otis on the La Conner hit parade with a one-out single in the fifth.
