The caller didn’t recognize them and had no idea why they were there. The mystery duo eventually wandered off toward Whatcom Street and vanished before deputies arrived. Thursday, March 13, 5:30 p.m. A request was made for extra patrols on Sixth Street between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to curb speeding and erratic driving. This is when spring sports practices wrap up, and apparently, some drivers think they’re in a race of their own. The only thing faster than a La Conner sprinter? Saturday, March 15, 2 p.m. A resident called on behalf of a friend to report a boat break-in… sometime since December. A deputy responded, but the caller was nowhere to be found and didn’t pick up when called back. As of now, it’s unclear if anything was actually taken. La Conner.

Tuesday, March 15, 12:20 p.m. Concerned neighbors requested a welfare check on someone living in an old house who hadn’t been seen in weeks. Deputies arrived and found the individual in bed, deceased. No signs of foul play, just a somber end to a quiet story. La Conner.
