A major windstorm early Tuesday blew a tree across power lines on Swinomish Reservation, causing an extended service outage that affected an estimated 1,525 Puget Sound Electric (PSE)
customers.
The outage occurred at about 2:15 a.m. PSE officials estimated power wouldn’t be restored in the area between Snee-Oosh Beach and Shelter Bay until noon Wednesday. However, crews were able to make repairs throughout the morning and had power restored to customers around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The tree fell near the intersection of Snee-Oosh and Pull-and-Be-Damned roads. The incident forced Snee-Oosh, Lone Tree Point, and Kiket Bay area residents to use Reservation Road as an
alternate route to La Conner.
La Conner Schools officials, in a Tuesday morning Facebook post, said there would be no district transportation to Pull-and-Be-Damned Road, Indian Road, and parts of Snee-Oosh Road due to a downed tree. By Tuesday afternoon, the tree was cleared and buses were able to resume normal routes and schedules.
