Town Administrator Scott Thomas, an attorney by trade, will plead La Conner’s case to state lawmakers in Olympia later this month.

Thomas and Town Council member Ivan Carlson will drive to the state capital Feb. 20 to represent La Conner at the annual Association of Washington Cities City Action Days event.

Their intent is to impress upon state legislators the Town’s need for funding support to acquire a fire/rescue boat, maintain streets, and undertake mandated upgrades at the La Conner Wastewater Treatment Plant.

“It’s an opportunity,” Thomas told council members during their Jan. 28 session at Maple Hall, “for local government leaders to discuss matters of concern with legislators.”

Thomas said they’re, “looking for support on a couple projects,” including state funding for the purchase of a fireboat and funding sources for required improvements to the half-century old treatment plant.
