People with intellectual and developmental disabilities can learn more about what services are available to them at an upcoming resource fair.
The annual Developmental Disabilities Resource Fair takes place 2-6 p.m. on March 25 at the Mount Vernon Library Commons. Individuals of all ages, as well as their families and friends, can meet representatives of over 30 different organizations and programs.
Some of the experts in attendance include Developmental Disabilities Community Services, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and Skagit County Parent to Parent. Guests can learn about early intervention programs, employment providers and a variety of resources for any life stage and transition.
Jess Nelson, who coordinates the Skagit County Developmental Disabilities Program, said she hopes the event will draw 200 to 300 people.
“A big success of the event is simply helping families realize they are not alone,” she wrote in an email to La Conner Community News. “Many leave with new connections, better information about available support and a stronger sense that there is a community that cares about them and wants to see them thrive.”
